In an interview published Tuesday by Italy’s most-read newspaper Corriere della Sera, Pope Francis said that he’s ready to meet President Vladimir Putin in Moscow in hopes of brokering an end to the war in Ukraine.

The Jesuit Pope also said that he is “not going to Kyiv for now” adding “I feel that I must not go. First, I must go to Moscow. First, I must meet Putin. But I am also a priest, what can I do? I do what I can. If Putin would only open the door…”.

But Vladimir Putin does not seem interested to receive Pope Francis in Moscow. After all, Francis has been siding with Ukraine up until now, and even during this recent interview, the Roman Catholic leader’s criticisms of Russia’s actions in Ukraine were obvious. However, while addressing the roots of the invasion and the war that started on February 24, 2022, he also made a controversial statement that: “the barking of NATO at the gates of Russia” is likely what motivated Putin to attack Ukraine.

Below is a relevant section of the interview in question published by the Italian newspaper:

Pope Francis’ concern is that Putin, for the moment, will not stop. He also tries to reason about the roots of such behavior, about the reasons that push him to such a brutal war. Perhaps the “barking of NATO at Russia’s door” prompted the head of the Kremlin to react badly and unleash the conflict. “I can’t say if it was provoked, but perhaps, yes.”

Also interesting is that Francis came close to condemning the international weapons transfers now pouring into Ukraine led by the U.S. which has authorized billions in military aid to Ukraine’s government.

“And now those who care about peace are faced with the great question of the supply of weapons by Western nations to the Ukrainian resistance,” the Pope began with his thoughts on this question. He admitted the question is controversial even within the Catholic world.

The pope also offered further details on his March 16 video conference with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, saying that during their 40-minute discussion, ” he told him: “we are not state clerics.”

Pope Francis also said that Kirill spent the first 20 minutes of the virtual meeting outlining Russia’s justifications for the war.

“I listened to him and told him, I don’t understand anything about this,” Francis said in the interview.

“The patriarch cannot transform himself into Putin’s altar boy,” said the pope who acts most of the time like the political leader of the New World Order rather than a Christian Pope.

At this point, I invite my readers to focus on the prophecies made during Marian apparitions in Garabandal, Spain in the 1960s, events confirmed to be supernatural by contemporary St. Padre Pio and even St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta. It was during these apparitions that the Blessed Mother gave a warning about what will happen in our time.

Garabandal visionary Conchita Gonzalez, quoted the Blessed Mother who said that one day a pope would visit Moscow and that as soon as he returns to the Vatican, “hostilities will break out in different parts of Europe.”

Thus will begin historic tribulations. On June 19, 1962, the Garabandal visionaries were given a vision of the tribulations, making them scream in fear for several minutes. Conchita said the vision referred to the time when Communism, led by Russia, would unexpectedly take over many parts of democratic countries where Christians would be persecuted.

According to the visionaries, the purpose of the visitations was to call for a “conversion of heart”. The visionaries reported receiving two ‘messages’, one directly from the Blessed Virgin Mary and the other from the Virgin Mary by way of Saint Michael the Archangel.
